The Same Decision Buyers Still Face Today
Presented by co-founder Peter Cleland, this video walks through the 620HT by comparing it directly with its stablemate, the 620C. The choice it explores, hard top or cuddy cabin, is still the one buyers weigh today between the 670HT and 670C.
What the Hard Top Added
Stepping up to the HT brought a larger helm with room for more electronics, an extended cabin with better protection in rough weather, and a V-berth for two to three people, with optional infill cushions and extensions for extra length. Critically, the cabin was lockable, giving real security for gear left aboard, not just weather protection.
Built for Serious Offshore Fishing
The 620HT’s cockpit showed serious fishing intent, with a modified rocket launcher able to hold up to ten big-game rods. That positioned it for anglers running several heavy outfits, not a casual day on the bay.
The Technology Underneath Both Models
Whichever configuration buyers chose, the 620HT and 620C shared Bar Crusher’s core engineering. Quickflow water ballast flooded the keel chamber at rest for stability. The Waveslicer deep-V cut through chop, and the Rigideck sub-floor was built to resist fatigue cracking over the life of the boat. Standard features on both included a livebait tank, a removable baitboard with drainage, a folding rear seat, a dual-battery system with isolation switches, and a deckwash.
Where This Comparison Leads Today
The 620HT and 620C are no longer in the Bar Crusher range, but the decision this video explores lives on, and it’s evolved:
- 670HT: a fixed hard top with a toughened safety glass windscreen and 360° view from the helm, for maximum weather protection.
- 670C: a cuddy cabin with Bar Crusher’s redesigned folding hard top and clears, which drops down for low-clearance garage storage.
- Pilothouse range: if the lockable cabin is the priority, the 730HTP and 780HTP take the idea further with a fully enclosed, lockable pilothouse.
