More Than Just Where the Engine Mounts
It's easy to think of a transom as simply the flat panel an outboard bolts to, but on a Bar Crusher it's genuinely load-bearing infrastructure — home to several of the boat's most important systems, built with the same heavy-gauge, welded plate aluminium construction as the rest of the hull.
Built From the Same Heavy-Duty Material as the Hull
Every Bar Crusher is built from heavy-duty, high-tensile marine-grade plate aluminium — 5mm on the bottom sides, 4mm on the top sides — welded together rather than pressed and riveted. The transom is no exception, built to handle the load and vibration of the outboard along with everything routed through it, using the same fully welded construction philosophy the brand applies to its checkerplate decks and Rigideck® sub-floor system.
What Runs Through It
A Bar Crusher transom typically carries a surprising amount of infrastructure: the hydraulic steering hoses and wiring loom that run to the helm (covered in more detail in another piece in this batch), fuel lines connected to the SafeTank™ system, and on many models, the live bait tank itself is built directly into the transom, positioned for easy reach without cluttering the cockpit.
A Step-Through Design on Many Models
On several models in the range, the transom incorporates a step-through design paired with a marlin board and berley bucket, keeping the transition to the back of the boat functional for landing fish or working berley rather than treating it purely as a structural afterthought.
Function First, Consistently
As with the rest of the range, the philosophy here is consistent: every part of the boat, including the parts owners rarely think about, is built to be functional and durable rather than just structurally adequate. It's a small example of the same attention to detail that runs through Bar Crusher's approach to the whole boat.
