The Goldilocks Boat
This is Hook, Line and Sinker’s third 670C, a boat they call their “Goldilocks boat”: not too big, not too small, and capable of everything from freshwater fishing to offshore pelagics without compromise either way. For a crew that fishes such different conditions, that versatility is the whole point of sticking with this size and cuddy cabin layout.
Bar Flap: Ballast Control at the Helm
Bar Crusher’s Matt Urzia joins the crew to walk through what’s new, and one standout is the Bar Flap, an electric ballast flap you control from a switch at the dash instead of by hand at the back of the boat. It works with the Quickflow water ballast system in two ways:
- Keep water out: the boat sits lighter and draws less water, which is ideal for running the shallows and beach launching.
- Trap water in: the boat holds its ballast while underway, which adds weight and smooths the ride when it’s running light or conditions turn rough.
Bar Flap is optional, and aimed at owners with shallow-draft needs or those who often run lightly loaded.
Interior and Comfort Updates
This 670C also picks up a run of practical interior updates. There’s carpet lining through the side pockets and cabin, an updated baitboard with a built-in fish measurer, and sealed edges that stop drips getting into the cabin. Deluxe bolster seats have a flip-up bolster for lower back support in rough conditions, and an Engel fridge/freezer sits discreetly under the seat box. You can remove it if you want to reconfigure the space.
Turn-Key, Built to Order
A theme that runs through Bar Crusher’s factory process, and one this crew emphasises, is customisation at the build stage. You specify hull colour, seating and electronics before the boat is built, so it arrives turn-key instead of needing accessories bolted on later. Start yours with the boat builder.
A Boat With a Track Record
The 670 platform has already carried this crew through serious adventures, including towing right across Australia, a 750-nautical-mile trip to Tasmania, and plenty of offshore deep-sea fishing. The segment wraps with the new boat’s first catch: an 80kg southern bluefin tuna, a fitting way to christen a boat built for exactly that kind of fishing.
