Starting From an Already-Good Hull
Bar Crusher is honest about where Gen2 started. The team already had a smooth Waveslicer deep-V for a soft ride through wind chop, proven Quickflow water ballast for stability, and what they call industry-leading engineering, “but we wanted more”. That “more” became Gen2, the result of more than 18 months of research, development and testing, not a quick styling refresh.
What Delta Flare Actually Is
The centrepiece of Gen2 is Delta Flare, a complex V-shaped planing plank that starts wider at the transom and narrows as it runs forward. As Bar Crusher puts it, planing planks have been used in heavy composite boats for years, but they’re rarely seen in an aluminium hull, until now. It’s a real piece of hull engineering, not a marketing label on an ordinary tweak. Delta Flare is paired with a wider negative chine running forward and an optimised, wider chine aft, and together they generate lift as the boat moves through the water.
The Practical Payoff
That engineering delivers concrete benefits on the water:
- Onto the plane quicker: more hydrodynamic lift gets the hull out of the hole faster, so you spend less time pushing water and burn less fuel getting there.
- A drier ride: a higher bow attitude and the wider chine turn spray down and away.
- More stability at rest: this matters as much while you’re anchored up fishing as it does underway.
