REVIEW: Bar Crusher 575C

I purchased my Bar Crusher 530C (now 575C) in 2005 primarily for fishing Bass Strait off Barwon Heads and Torquay over the summer months. I’ve also travelled to Portland for the last two years chasing southern bluefin tuna.

My crew of two and I have been to the shelf several times and quite comfortably fished the 55km line without any hesitation. The performance of the boat is awesome and the rougher the weather, the more you can see how these boats have become so popular.

My fishing mates have plate alloy boats of various makes, but all comment on how well the Bar Crusher rides when things start to chop up.

Fishing mainly for sharks in Bass Strait, I find the setup excellent, with all rails and tie off points fully welded and extremely strong. The large gaff side pockets are of a practical size for those wanting to store large gaffs and tag poles. The fully-welded checkerplate deck makes for easy cleaning and does not hold odours like those using carpeted decks.

With a limited garage height I fold the windscreen down each trip. I have attached my own aluminium channel to the base of the windscreen to mount my sounder and GPS, this way it all folds down together. It works fantastic and preserves the 2.1m clearance height of the boat.

After owning Stacer and Quintrex boats, and fishing regularly out of other alloys, I just can’t go past the strength, finish and ride of the Bar Crusher.

A proud Bar Crusher owner.
