Boat design is about trying to incorporate all the very best design features to ensure the hull gives great performance for its intended application. As boat manufacturers and designers we have listened carefully to our customers and ensured that our design technology is applied to provide the smoothest possible ride whilst achieving optimum stability at rest.

In the past, boat manufacturers have had to compromise by building flatter hulls to achieve the required stability at rest. As we all know, a flatter hull shape means a hard, pounding ride. (You may have ridden in another aluminium boat on a windy day and found the ride to be almost unbearable).

The Bar Crusher design uses a deep-V hull for superior ride and an innovative water ballast system for stability at rest. Enter QuickFlowTM water ballast technology...

Running along the full length of the keel, there is a cavity in the bottom of the hull open at the transom. When the boat stops, this fills, becomes ballast, lowers the chines into the water and provides tremendous stability. The moment the boat moves forward, the water ballast is jettisoned from the hull allowing the boat to fly up onto the plane. Interestingly, there is no lag when accelerating, just a smooth and fast transition onto the plane.

The reality is that boat manufacturers use very different design technology and accordingly perform very differently on the water.

RigiDeck tm

The RigideckTM rigid sub frame and fully welded floor gives the boat a true commercial strength build quality. The subframe consists of six fully welded (Not stitch welded!) stringers which run from stern to bow. The stringers are folded to provide additional strength and surface area for welding. The stringers then have sections of plate welded between to make the whole sub floor into a fully boxed and triangulated frame.
 
To add further strength, the checker plate floor is welded in to the hull. This is then pressure tested to ensure the individual buoyancy cavities do their job. This floor is not only tough, it is quick and easy to maintain with a quick hose out. There are no little holes around the edges and underneath the floor to trap old fishing tackle, old bait and bad smells.
 
Bar Crusher can offer this engineered design by using the very latest plasma cutting and welding techniques to bring a fully framed, commercial strength, welded hull to the end buyer at a very reasonable price. Until recently these techniques could not be used due to very high capital equipment cost and high labour cost. Now these precise, fast machines for cutting and welding aluminium plate can be used to build super tough quality at a similar price to the light weight pressed sheet "tinnie".

Waveslicer tm

The WaveSlicerTM strakeless non pounding hull design has brought about a change in the way many people think. It is one of the very few production boats that has a smooth hull without strakes. The reason for this is that the hull has been designed very carefully to ensure that it has the ideal amount of surface area, chine and V to allow the boat to cut beautifully through chop, hold its course in a following sea and turn hard and flat with out turbulence over the prop.
 
Boat design has always been a compromise between variables to produce a boat that behaves a certain way under a given set of conditions. Generally speaking, a deep V provides a smooth ride but a little more roll at rest. A flat hull with a shallow V has great stability at rest but is harder riding. Bar Crusher's answer to this dilemma is to provide you with a moderately deep V hull that incorporates the QuickFlowTM system to provide the stability at rest.
 
In the past, many boat designers have automatically fitted or moulded strakes or ridges under a planing hull. Bar Crusher believe that the strakes on the bottom of most other boats can cause pounding and increased turbulence. Increased turbulence can cause prop aeration, (air is created around the propeller which causes the prop. to spin free and over rev).
