Dear Peter,
RE - Feedback on your Bar Crusher Boats
I am delighted to be able to provide feedback on our 530C Bar Crusher that is fitted with a 90 h.p. Suzuki Four Stroke Motor
The boat, which was purchased from in July 2004, is based in Townsville, Qld. and the motor has just had its 200 hour service undertaken.
The boat is used exclusively for spear-fishing, the majority of the time on the offshore reefs located within the barrier reef between Townsville and Cairns.
The following is the feedback on the boat and motor:
- Durability of the Outfit
- The paint on the boat is still in a "as new" condition
- There are no cracks in the hull and the bottom of the boat has no dents or depressions in it even though the boat has encountered some very rough seas when returning from the reef
- There is no evidence of any rust on the trailer whatsoever
- There has been no need to undertake any repairs on the outfit whatsoever in this 3 year period
- Based on the above we believe that we will get many more years of trouble free usage from the boat
- Performance of the Outfit
The boat performs excellently in the seas in this area, which regularly have a 1.5 - 2.5 metre sharp chop combined with a strong running tide, which when combined with the chop makes for fairly unpleasant conditions
The boat is a very dry boat and carries 3 divers with all their gear, as well as a large esky filled with ice and fish, comfortably
The boat is very stable at rest, and is very easy to enter and return to and from the water, when diving
The boat is very easy to launch and retrieve from the water and tows easily on the road
The boat is well laid out and has adequate storage for all the diving gear of 3 divers
The Suzuki motor has preformed excellently and is very quiet and efficient
e.g. On the 15th October,2007 the boat was used to travel to Lodestone Reef off Townsville, a round trip of 147 kms., carrying 3 divers and all their gear, in a very choppy sea, travelling at b/n 4000 - 4200 r.p.m., and the motor only used 74 litres of fuel
In conclusion, we are very happy with the boat and highly recommend it to anyone who wants a strong well built and very seaworthy boat, that requires only the minimum amount of maintenance, to provide many hours of pleasure
Yours Faithfully
Neil W. Buckingham
